Touwslager received his design degree from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. In 2001 he co-founded Anderemedia, a Dutch design studio. In the same year he became a principal afﬁliate of Govcom.org, an Amsterdam-based foundation dedicated to creating and hosting political tools on the Web. Some of these tools where featured at the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM) in 2005, in an exhibition entitled “Making Things Public,” curated by Bruno Latour. In 2004, Auke Touwslager founded Informationlab. Initially ment as reﬂection of his personal interests, now a international network for research, collaboration, exchange of knowledge and concept development.
In 2012 he co-founded INFOTUDE, a European company dedicated to designing innovative concepts, (web) applications and information mapping tools.
Clients range from institutions such as The Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net, USA), Ecsite - European Network of Science Centres and Museums (BE), The European Culture Foundation, Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM) and National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), Transics (BE), EXCEMED (IT), Govcomorg Foundation, Executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Transportation and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat), Wiardi Beckman Stichting, Infoscape Research Lab (CAN) and The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust (USA).
